About Us

Rotary Club of Central Calcutta (RCCC ) of Rotary International District 3291, was chartered in August 1984. The club has sponsored one Interact Club, two Rotaract Clubs and nine Rotary Community Corps (RCC ) situated in Hooghly & South 24 Parganas. The Club is proud to have a full cricket team through International Fellowship of Cricket loving Rotarians (IFCR ) and a very active & supportive Inner Wheel Club.

During the past 39 years, the club has initiated several rural village development activities, towards Swanirbharta (Self Reliance) through the RCC s. Several villages have been fully sanitized and have also been provided with safe drinking water. Vocational Training Centers have been set up towards self-employment. The club every year distributes blankets, mosquito nets, agricultural tools & equipment and thousands of fruit tree saplings, which improve the environment, provide nutritious food and more importantly are a source of income, especially for the women folk. Primary schools and education & training in modern methods of agriculture, pisciculture, poultry & animal husbandry is a regular feature. The club promotes Rotary’s
Blindness Prevention projects by providing Light to hundreds every year through IOL cataract surgeries. The club through its RCC -Human Development Centre, has sponsored an eye hospital at Joynagar with over 5000 cataract surgeries every year.

RCCC is closely associated with Vishudhanand Hospital, Marwari Relief Society, Premanand Memorial Leprosy Hospital, East Kolkata Nagarik Foundation & Shree Jain Hospital for several projects, including IOL cataract surgeries, providing artificial limbs, providing medical equipment including Dialysis machines, Ventilators & several wards in above hospitals have been done. The pride project of the Club is Rotary Siksha Kendra, a school in Village Bishnupur, Dist South 24 Parganas. The school has over 450 rural based children. It has it’s own two storied building with ten fully furnished rooms. Recently, the club has setup its own Dialysis Centre at Lake Town which will be managed by East Kolkata Nagarik Foundation. 

All the activities of the Club have been possible because of the benevolent members and Internationality of Rotary with the magic of The Rotary Foundation-Grants Programs. The Club has forged wonderful and lasting relationships with friendly Rotarians & Clubs in Canada- RID 7010, 7070 & 5360, USA – RID 5790, 6440, 6380, 7410, 7470 & 7890, UK – RID 1070, 1090, 1110, 1120 & 1250, Australia RID 9640 and New Zealand RID 9940.
